Retain Pro Version 1.0 was originally introduced in 1989, and was originally developed by Michael Brooks, SE, president of Enercalc Engineering Software, Inc. In 1991 Hugh Brooks, SE, (yes, father and son) acquired Retain Pro, as a division of HBA Publications, Inc., and has continually managed Retain Pro to and including the latest release: Retain Pro 2007. (Note: Enercalc’s Structural Engineering Library includes a retaining wall program which is equivalent to an earlier version of Retain Pro).

Hugh Brooks is a registered civil and structural engineer in California and has maintained a consulting practice for over 40 years. He is the author of Basics of Retaining Wall Design, The Tilt-Up Design & Construction Manual (since acquired by the Tilt-Up Concrete Association), Encyclopedia of Building & Construction Terms, and Building & Construction Resource directory.
